Mooretown

 

Pioneers were there as early as 1804 and Lambton County’s first post office opened in Mooretown in 1837.By the middle of the 19^th century it had 17 businesses, including a sawmill and a flourmill.

 

Some 450 people lived in the village, although its population was down to just 100 by 1925.It has rebounded in the last half of the 20^th century, with Moore Township building its municipal offices, a sports complex and a museum there.
